3. Not so much Free Republic itself, but the Freeper mentality is strong in the GOP

Free Republic itself is a dying site, they have purged a lot of their old people and their software has not stayed up with the times which makes it far more difficult to attract new people. While Free Republic itself is dying, the Freeper mentality exists on other sites all throughout the internet. Look at the comments on practically any site on the internet and you will see them, there are even a few pretty obvious ones here at DU. Freepers are no longer limited to Free Republic they are all over the internet, and yes they are very influential within the GOP.
