3. Well, I do not know about rat population in the U.S.

But I do know I had to pay an exterminator $350 to kill 18 rats in my house. I used to hear scratchings in the walls at night and finally could not stand it any more and called a pest control person. I have electrical problems because of wire being chewed up. The rats are gone now and I hope there will not be any new ones looking for a home. I think my problem stemmed from the fact that some land was being cleared behind my house for construction and the rats decided my house would be a good new home.

I am an animal rights advocate and do not condone killing any animal, but these critters had to go.
