(7,908 posts)11. As a farm boy who long ago learned the value of long, slow soakers, I am very
happy for my brothers and sisters who farm in central California and the San Joaquin Valley. This drought was starting to assume near-Biblical proportions.
I hope this rain tapers off tonight and then we have 2-3 days of no rain (but overcast skies) and then another long, slow soaker. Will greatly help to replenish the water tables.

I don't know about houses sliding, but their have been homes affected by mudslides yes...
