(53,521 posts)46. I'm white, but as an autistic person I can relate to the feeling of having one's reality dismissed.
Growing up I was constantly accused of "making excuses" and "being lazy", any explanation I gave for my problems was dismissed as just more excuses for being lazy. I suspect this is very similar to what people of color go through when their own experiences are degraded and dismissed.
