Hillary Clinton weighs in on Eric Garner chokehold death, Ferguson: [View all]

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton says the criminal justice system is "out of balance," and she supports federal reviews of police-involved deaths of black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City.

Clinton is speaking at a women's conference in Boston. She says the cases show the need for federal law enforcement money to be used for best practices, not weapons of war.

She says the U.S. has let its criminal justice system get out of balance, and she notes disparity in the number of black men in prison.

Civil rights leaders have criticized grand jury decisions not to charge a white police officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner in New York and not to charge a white officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teen in Missouri.
