(15,882 posts)20. Ought to be one for the 50 million people in poverty too. Because the 85 richest people in the
world have been making about $500,000 a minute, every minute, since the Ferguson decision was handed down. During all the protests, and the other killing, they just keep raking it in, and defining the choices for the rest of us, black and white.
Wanna bet, if they even look down this far, they see all this pain and tragedy as a potential for profit? They would probably as soon we keep fighting each other, and if it turns into a bloodbath, all the better. War is money, foreign or domestic.

Worldwide, inequality of individual wealth is even more extreme. At the start
of 2014, Oxfam calculated that the richest 85 people on the planet owned as
much as the poorest half of humanity. Between March 2013 and March 2014,
these 85 people grew $668m richer each day. If Bill Gates were to cash in all
of his wealth, and spend $1m every single day, it would take him 218 years to
spend it all.14 In reality though, he would never run out of money: even a modest
return of just under two percent would make him $4.2 million each day in
interest alone.
