I quoted a text from a racist? If that's all it takes to get you to disengage, then our fight is going to be even longer than I have previously imagined. You are giving them all the power of that word by not making people actually SEE it when they use it, or HEAR it when they use it. I don't think that using it will take its power away - but I think censoring it FOR them takes away the power that WE have against it - which is to let people see how ugly it is, to see the ugliness of its usage - and to not soften it so when people see it they don't actually have to see it. We don't have to agree, but you sent it to jury and they voted to leave it alone - so now what? I'm a racist bc I quoted a racist and didn't use ***** in place of the word that light skinned people have used for hundreds of years to insult those with dark skin?

Imo, you need to get a better grasp on this thing. Your personal vendetta against me bc I quoted a racist is weird and your focus is all messed up. You don't like seeing the word? Neither do I. So, how do we stop it from being seen? Not censoring it when it's every day vernacular for so many Americans, that's for damn sure. Pull it out into the light and let its ugliness be seen.
