And, as uneasy as it made people here who claim to be "in the fight" against it just to SEE it, in quotes - imagine how it feels to hear it, daily, thrown at you with hatred and disgust.

I agree. There is no way to pretty it up. I'm not doing their work for them, the racists, by letting them throw this damn word around UNTIL it becomes public, then we use N******. Not nearly the same ugliness though, is it?

And, exactly - how do we confront things if we aren't even willing to SEE a word typed out in a quote? It's like, giving a fainting couch to those that can't even see it typed out in a quote - seriously people, I hear this word all the time aimed at my children or my husband. This is their reality - and I'm tired of not talking about it and saying, "Oh, he called my son the N word"... That's not what he called my son at all bc that doesn't turn my stomach.
