Nadin sent these links to me last night...As proof "Black Lives Matter" to everyone-finally [View all]

To use the pictures in my Op last night "Black Lives Matter" to everyone...finally. After reading them I felt the articles deserved an Op of there own.

Nadin said this to me.

We are covering the marches at Reporting San Diego

Suffice it to say, the scene has been changed in San Diego as well.

Who's feet, my feet, what feet, sore feet! One march was for about 10 miles, with a forty pound packs. We take way too much crap to the field, and these days includes tactical helmet, first aid kit and gas mask. Why? Well Ferguson of course.

Protesters Take to City Heights Streets Again

“This is what people power can do, this is what protesting can do,” said Mendonca.

The march had members from different strata of San Diego society. It brought together, white, black and brown. It also brought together working class, students and middle class people.

Before the march, the protesters held a die in that lasted 11 minutes. Each minute represented each time Eric Garner said he could not breath, before he died.

What brought her to this protest, is that what has happened is wrong, and “everybody should be out participating.” It is wrong that people have been killed all over the country. Minorities who are unarmed, “to sit at home and not do anything about it, and not participate, if you are not being part of the solution, you are being part of the problem.”

Who’s Campus, Our Campus…Mike Brown and Eric Garner at USD

By nadinabbott on December 5, 2014

Dec. 5, 2014 (San Diego) Students, administrators, teachers and members of the community came to the University of San Diego (USD) for a march. This was a march in the same continuity of the national outrage over the grand jury decisions of both Missouri and New York. People are angry and tired of police impunity.

Tarez Lemmons was one of the student organizers and he saw a crowd of about 90 people. They came for one thing, to protest the deaths of two African-American men, at the hands of police, and the decisions of two mostly white grand juries.

Simmons told the crowd “change is possible but it takes all our voices.” He added that he started to feel the same kind of despondency that has reached many in communities of color. But he was cured of it once he saw people from widely different backgrounds coming out and showing the same anger.

Four and a Half Minutes for Mike Brown

By nadinabbott on November 29, 2014 •

Nov. 29, 2014 (San Diego) Mark Jones led the march to Horton Plaza to protest the grand jury Decision from Ferguson, Missouri. He is an honorably discharged United States Marine and chose to lead the march in his Dress Blues. The march started at the convention Center, with about 50 participants, but grew over the course of the march to about a 100.

In the speech he said, “we are peaceful, to show you, to show everybody. Black, look at this crowd, brown, white, asian, standing together in solidarity.” He added, “I don’t care what you think about that indictment, civil rights is civil rights, period.”

snip

Jones also said that the people, who were marching, were not there because there is no problem. They were there because there is a problem. He also pointed out the mixed nature of the crowd, who were multi racial. “My injustice today, is your injustice tomorrow!”

Jones also was clear that people could go on with shopping like nothing happened. Then he, and the group, stood in silence for four and a half minutes, in memory of the four and a half hours that it took for the police to remove the body of Mike Brown from the streets in Ferguson.
