that's not a lot of blood for a scratch across the head. I bled at least as much, if not far more when I was beaned by an icicle, with only a tiny cut responsible.

Possibly the Medics put some of that "glue-on" bandage across it. That blends in and provides a quick and easy protection. Or perhaps Zimmerman refused further treatment.
