(14,255 posts)submissively accept the candidates that are chosen for us. What is going to happen, I believe, if we keep on getting corporate candidates, is that people will rightfully feel there is no point in voting, because the candidate with the most money wins, and then things just get worse for the 99%. I can see why someone would feel why play the game, it is a giant shell game.
Be interesting as fuck to see what happens when tax revenues get smaller and smaller because people make less money, and corporations are homing in on no taxes at all. I read elsewhere that in 81% of counties in the US - total income is smaller. We are not better off, really, and any civil rights gained, I feel, are just sops that did not cost any actual money. People keep acting as if of COURSE we have a Sophie's Choice between civil rights and economic help. People have swallowed that hook, line, and sinker. Sickening. When someone says hey, maybe we are losing jobs and infrastructure is crumbling and the banks are raking in billions, but at least gay people can get married now! - they have been played for fools. There did not need to be an either/or.
