Sorry for the bad form of bumping my own post.

In my long explanation, the central issue was probably lost. I could offer one of the keys to why a large segment of the black community in Oakland was being *programmed* with paranoia about the police, and I had one suggestion about what to done about it - a topic that wasn't coming up because of the middle class audience.

A chance with that array of politicians on the dais, all willing to do something about it, is never going to come again.

Also, I could have answered their fake "door is open to hear your problems" with the fact I had to create a MoveOn.org petition just because I couldn't get a response from ANY of them about problems with Social Services. No one else challenged all of them, sweepingly, on failure to interact with poor constituents.
