6. blowing and raining in midcoast Maine (not midcoast rain, lol!)

We desperately need the rain and I'm especially happy because I planted my sugar snap peas on Saturday with the new moon. My kludge-job trellis of baby sumacs lashed into tripods with wire mesh fencing is holding its own against the wind.

When I headed into the barn to feed my filly breakfast, she was missing. I called her name over the wind, and a scared/relieved/bug-eyed little face peeked out of the open stall door, and then she came out to greet me. She was hiding from the scary wind monsters behind her stall wall. The wall is about 5 feet high -- she was ducked down to make sure the monsters wouldn't find her if/when they broke into the barn. Heh. She barely made it into the aisle, and the sliding doors banged with a gust of wind and she spun and scooted back into hiding. Glad I didn't bring the dogs along. It was enough fun to try to clean her stall with her running back and forth and Polly-kitty trying to trip me.
