You have personal experience with what I'm going through, so you understand how horrible this all is.

I have the advantages of being only 45 still, and with the constitution of an ox! If my body heals up properly once and for all, I plan to eventually be walking around on a prosthetic with nearly the skill of someone with two natural legs!

On the minus side, I've lost a lot of weight since my lifetime high, but difficulty with exercise due to completely ruined knees makes this whole prosthetic thing into a massive challenge! I believe I am up for it, but the degree of deterioration in both knees makes me think they my need to get replaced. I really can't afford much more being put under and cut open, especially since I have some nerve damage already from the septic shock I was in before my amputation, plus having been under anesthesia a total of 5 times now.
