In reply to the discussion: Why is the Saint Louis County Police purposely trying to stir up unrest? [View all]951-Riverside
(7,234 posts)42. As a citizen of the United States of America I *am* entitled to see what my government is doing
I'm not sure why you feel entitled...
If YOU don't like citizens holding their government accountable, if you don't like citizens looking over their government's shoulder then you are more than free to renounce your citizenship from wherever you live and go live in China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Burma, Uzbekistan, etc where you don't have to worry about others questioning the activities of their government.
You're not an investigator, you're not a member of the Police Department, nor are you an officer of the court.
What obligation does anyone in charge have to you that you're entitled to see that video...
You forgot one thing, I am a member of the public and its called the Freedom of Information Act, every state has their own laws which is largely based on the Federal Government's FOIA that was passed in 1967.
Furthermore the Saint Louis County Police decided to release heavily edited versions on their own, I'm merely asking for the unedited version.
If they have nothing to hide, if the full video exonerates their officer then they need to release the whole thing not just cropped out and frozen snippets so this can be put to rest once and for all because the longer they wait, the more out of control things will become.
I don't care about what a press release says, I don't care what the mayor said, I don't care what the officer said, I don't care what witnesses in the area said, the event was captured on video as it happened. The video in its entirety will speak for itself, not snippets, not cropped versions, not a blurred version, not animated gifs based on the edited version but the whole video from the moment first contact was made up until backup arrived.
