10. I did too, and they did work

I had a serious over-bite that was corrected, but it was nothing short of torture! The inside of my mouth was constantly bleeding from the damned wires. I also had what they called a tongue-thrust swallow. This, too, was corrected by me wearing a retainer for two years with wires protruding out of it so that when my tongue hit the wires, I would pull it away. Imagine having needles sticking out the back of your two front teeth....that's what it was like. Oh, it worked okay, but it was torture.
