If a Pit Bull bites someone, it's a "Pit Bull".

If a mixed breed bites someone, it's a "Pit Bull".

If a some moron is freighted or startled by a dog - no matter what the dog is actually doing - it's a "Pit Bull".

Facts aren't going to change the minds of the foolish or arrogantly ignorant.
