155. Yes, this is an enormous peeve of mine

It is the WORST in Florida, for some reason. I moved here a year ago, and I have never seen so many slow-ass drivers in all my life, and they all hang out in the left lane. And I'm not talking about "law-abiding citizens who like to go the speed limit and make sure everyone else does too", I'm talking the speed limit is 65, and they're doing 50 in the left lane while 10,000 cars are passing them on the right. It's not just timid old people either. I see young people doing it all the time.

It is such an egregious and widespread practice here that they actually had a crackdown in Central FL about it a few months ago - they had warnings on the TV that they would be giving tickets and everything. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any change as a result of the increased enforcement.

Actually, Florida has the worst drivers in general of anywhere I've ever lived. They drive WAY too slow, they are completely unpredictable (like suddenly stopping in the middle of a 50 mph 4 lane road for no apparent reason whatsoever, making sudden turns with no signal, etc), and they hover in the left lanes on freeways. I think it's the result of a terrible combination of old people, tourists, and "Florida Man" (who is on drugs and watching porn on his IPad as he drives). I have to drive so defensively here to not have an accident. However, Floridians do know how to merge onto freeways, unlike Pittsburghers, who have a tendency to come to a dead stop at the end of the ramp, precipitating rear-end pileups.

Anyway, please, please don't be this person! Just pass on the left and get the hell over. If you have a left exit coming up, then get over when you need to. But for the love of God, don't dawdle in the left lane! Your fellow citizens will thank you!
