I live so far away from "shopping" that it's pretty cut and dried. I normally have researched what I buy and write on the list for my once every eight to twenty week trip to the city. And often I am simply replacing something I use regularly and they are often bulk ingredients. The process most of my food gets is what I do to it myself... I am very fortunate that way and very thankful that I have been able to do it. When I divested of my household, the valuable items I retained were a major percentage kitchen tools and cooking items.

I also barter locally rather than shop.
