5. The horserace numbers are largely useless at this point, however Obama's job approval numbers

remain troubling.

He has moved in the right direction from last summer, but has not had his head consistently above 50% for quite a long time, and this is dangerous for an incumbent, especially in an election year.

He straddles the edge of an incumbent that wins reelection, and one that doesn't.
