Democrats have had to pay a major price for fixing this country. What they learned from the Johnson debacle is that if they fix the Civil Rights situation in this country, ignorant crackers will still turn on them 50 years later. There's no incentive to fix the country, because they will get voted out of office for someone who promises to tear shit up.
