(4,462 posts)More importantly, whether you (or I) like it or not, "Democrat" is not synonymous with "liberal." A great many moderates and some conservatives, many of whom vote, sadly unlike a lot of our peers, call our party home. These votes certainly count when determining our party platform and are necessary to win elections, particularly in red and purple states.
You can believe that less liberal Democrats are not real Democrats, ignore the actual party platform, or fail to acknowledge that a broad Democratic coalition is necessary to maintain a legislative majority, but it amounts to little more than griping.
Again, if the Socialist party truly represents your ideas and positions, why are you a Democrat? At least in the Socialist Party, you would not be angered and frustrated by the conservatives (who apparently are anyone who's not very liberal) you abhor.
