(4,033 posts)in the Fall when I was 18 I would be voting for Jimmy Carter, I asked my Dad if I could register as a Socialist. My Dad a 15 year veteran of the Marine Corps and at all times a Union member, said "No". It wasn't because he was against socialism, but because I wouldn't be allowed to vote in primary elections.
Dad told me to vote my conscience and to make sure it was aligned with the Democratic Party. As I've gotten older, I think I have moved more to the left than where I was when I was 17. I am tired of the 1% taking from the 99%, I am tired of Congress members who "just don't get it". I am just plain tired.
It's just not the current 1% we should be worried about, but the children of these 1% and those moving into the 1%. By that I mean those who are in their 20's and who believe they are "entitled" mostly by their education. I meet many of them every week. I work for a ride sharing platform and give college students of a "prestigious" institution rides. You do not know how many of them at the end of their Junior year have a job ready for them when they graduate, and these jobs begin with 6 figures. I see their attitude emerging.
It is not the 1% who will change the world, but the rest of us by uniting.
