In reply to the discussion: Sunday's Doonesbury: Who's this Warren character? [View all]merrily
(45,251 posts)8. Only one way to read "Run, Lizzy, run" though.
I would really love for her and Sanders both to run, along with many others. I am not for Hillary, but, I am even less for an anointing. I am even less for the movement to take "rank and file" voters out of the equation as much as traffic will allow.
First, came the movement to establish super delegates. Then came the mythology/meme that Carter lost because of Kennedy and therefore no incumbent Democratic President should ever again face a primary. Then, the second vote on super delegates succeeded.
Then, since 2012, we've been hearing how "If Hillary runs, she'll clear the field. No Democrat will even bother to run against her." Now, we're hearing how Sanders has no business running as a Democrat and Warren can do far more in the Senate than she possibly could in the Oval Office (
Nothing at all transparent--or highly undemocratic and unDemocratic-- about any of the above.

I agree that she'd be a sorry candidate, but she's got an ace up her sleeve
