(100,133 posts)55. Well that knocked my socks off! That was great stuff, just riveting.
I wish my parents were alive to hear that -- they had a brief brush with Scientology before I was old enough to remember, and we got letters in the mail from the organization for decades. I used to bring the post in and toss the junk mail in the trash can on my way to the front door. I was in my late teens before I thought to ask: What is all this Scientology mail about? and heard the story of their youthful desire for self improvement and their realization that every step up that ladder cost an increasing amount of money, which they emphatically did not have. They realized it was a scam and departed.
