When the economy is ok and people are generally working or their 401K is going up then they tend to buy the kool aid. When things are truly at their worst, they sometimes say screw it and vote for Democrats. At least the conservatives I know. I think because Obama hasn't been the total disaster they say he has, they are actually more likely to vote for a total disaster like Romney. Because Clinton did such a good job on the economy, it was amazing how many people were ok to totally switch economic philosophy and vote for Bush twice. There is something to comfort breeding complacency at least among conservative leaning voters.
