(2,529 posts)60. It was really bad back in the 70s and even to the 80s.
I had to take the bus everywhere in San Antonio and even with my children with me, I'd still get badly harassed, and I have to admit, the worse offenders were my fellow Latinos. Ironically, considering the clip we just watched, I'd sometimes yell back at them, "I know your mother, pinche culero!" Not that it ever helped. Acknowledging them in any way just made it worse. The street harassment seems to have disappeared for the most part these last decades. I never hear young girls being cat-called and wolf-whistled at the way women were back in those days.
