(9,527 posts)Because it's 10 degrees, powerful gusting winds and accumulations of snow well over a foot, and probably closer to 2 feet. Which isn't a "so-called 'blizzard'" nor were the warnings an embarrassingly colossal mistake, particularly for those of us who live in areas that are still getting snow and winds for several more hours.
Yes the storm didn't hit as hard as it could, particularly in the southern reaches of the storm, but it's still a major storm that had and continues to have the capacity to cause injury and death.
Additionally in order to properly prepare, cities/states have to mobilize ahead of time. You can't realistically wait until the storm hits to start doing things. Look at what happened in Atlanta during last February's major ice storm and how once it hit everything went to shit.
