(23,156 posts)about the vast difference between wild and domesticated animals. And even some domesticated animals aren't completely safe with humans: witness all the maulings and deaths from dogs (mostly pit bulls, but that's a different thread).
A while back I was watching a series on Netflix that was about people who owned various wild animals, including poisonous snakes and spiders, and almost every show was about how that person died at the hands of the animal (snake, spider, whatever).
When we lived in Boulder, CO, we'd often get deer in the back yard. My sons were quite young at the time, two and six, and I told them they must NEVER go in the back yard if there was a deer there. Fortunately, after a year we bought a house that had a high fence the deer couldn't jump over.
