The last paragraph just nails it. You are so on it.

The thinking ones know we're a warmongering country and the rest know it in the back of their minds but don't want to confront it because then they'd have to trash all their "we're number one" foam fingers and admit they've been complicit in all the warmongering, bombings and killings and "I support the troops no matter what."
