Are you aware of the rate of brain damage and long-term neurological issues in pro football players? Helpful hint: between age 30 and 49 risk of dementia is 19 times higher than the general population. Also, look up "chronic traumatic encephalopathy". 33 out of 34 former NFL players tested for CTE postmortem had it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NFL_players_with_chronic_traumatic_encephalopathy
The only sport you can reasonably compare American football to in terms of the risks and injuries inflicted on competitors is boxing (and football may be worse, honestly).
