There was only about 20 seconds left on the clock and it takes longer to set up after a run. Throw the ball and if it's incomplete it stops the clock. He thought he could get another play if he missed on the pass.
The Pats had been pretty good at stopping Lynch at the goal line.
It only seemed like a bad idea because it didn't work. Everyone would have been singing his praises for the genius of the play had it worked.
My opinion, Wilson should have taken it in. Brady would have.
