But if you figure that there is a one in five chance Lynch is unsuccessful on second down, and if he fails you probably have to use your last time out (with under twenty seconds to go). And then you have to decide whether to risk running on third down knowing that if you don't get it in, you don't have time to get the right personnel on the field to try a pass on fourth down. What are the odds of Lynch being stopped three times in a row? Probably not that great, but then again, his track record isn't confidence inducing on that particular play.

If it was me, knowing what I now know, I still would have gone with the run or at very least with a play action fake, roll out and throw to the corner. But given all of the facts, its not as outlandish a call as it first seemed. Still outlandish, but not necessarily the worst call in the history of the game.
