(24,411 posts)Bobby Brown was a violent abuser. Because you and I know that he was an abuser, we can pretty much guess that living with him was a nightmare. God only knows what went on in that house.
Domestic abusers create so much chaos and trauma in the lives of family members. The children who have to grow up in this environment are damaged for life. Yes, they can get therapy and thrive and go on to live meaningful lives--but only after years of hard work and healing.
Whitney Houston seemed like the classic codependent. Staying with a man who was an abuser, and Whitney sinking further and further into escapes like drugs and alcoholism. I feel for her. She must have been in pain a great deal--to feel that she deserved abuse like that.
This entire story demonstrates how horrible domestic abuse and substance abuse is for people. This entire family is destroyed with the mother and the daughter now dead.
Most who endure this hell are not millionaires with fame and amazing talents. Whitney Houston and her daughter had all of those things, and still they could not overcome the damage of drugs and domestic violence. Those things are powerful, horrible forces.
Very sad situation.
