The head of a foreign power wants to manipulate the US Congress for what he perceives to be his own political advantage, OK, I get that. I don't even blame him for trying, although being a foreign power that very much depends on our friendship as a lifeline to survival, I do question his wisdom and his willingness to risk our current administration's wrath at being so blatant about it.
But to show up at an event clearly meant to embarrass the president and bypass the long-standing channels of diplomacy, protocol and courtesy is a mistake. I am proud of our Vice-President for having the courage to say he wants no part of this event. I have nothing against Israel, but I hope this brings down the Netanyahu regime like a house of cards. He's not doing his country any good with this move, and he's only feeding Bonehead's ego and thirst to embarrass Obama by doing it. If I were the head of Hamas, trying to think up a way to drive a deep wedge between Israel and the USA, I couldn't have tried to get Netanyahu to go about this any differently.
