(45,319 posts)addresses to the joint Congress and those of the many, many other heads of state and world leaders that have made such addresses, the protocols followed then which were not followed in this case clearly highlight the actual impropriety of this particular scenario. Addresses of this sort are fairly common in the US Congress, but in this case the protocols and processes were not followed. That's the problem, they were not followed because had they been followed the address would not have been approved. That's the problem. Having speakers one side or the other does not care for, that's not the problem.
The person in the wrong is Boehner. What he did wrong was not who he invited but how and when. He's making problems for the future that he does not even think about, this is the digging of a pit he will later fall into, or other Republicans will fall into. He politicized something that is supposed to be diplomatic in nature.
