Killing the child? You are talking about the RAREST of rare exceptions. One in a million. Maybe.
I have several friends with handicapped children. They don't have extra nurses, and all the other things you cite. And they universally love their children and consider them a joy and addition to their lives. Its difficult, but they play the hand they've been dealt.
Again, I think Rick Santorum is a dolt. But if his child brings joy to his life, and he wants to let others know about it, I have no idea why that would prompt a bitter response.

It is true most don't take such a vow, but Matthew 6:24 is not ambiguous on the subject
