20. Politics matter, even small bore politics

If John McCain was elected president there would be no Affordable care Act, no Medicaid expansion, and I would be walking around with a broken elbow and uncontrolled hypertension. My dad died of a heart attack at the ripe old age of fifty eight. He hadn't seen a doctor in twenty years.

Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
AFDC
Universal Health Insurance

Without Democratic presidents these programs, some of them lifesaving, wouldn't exist.

Enfranchisement of women
Enfranchisement of people of color
Marriage equality

Without Democratic presidents these people would still be waiting on their rights.

So while you dream about a revolution that will never happen I will continue to do what little I can to help "those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped."
