In reply to the discussion: George Zimmerman now has six mugshots. Travon Martin has an obituary. [View all]nomorenomore08
(13,324 posts)53. The case was ambiguous enough that I could understand people being unsure at first.
But as far as Zim's "supporters" that's not exactly what happened. Millions immediately jumped to the man's defense without any particular evidence to support them, based on their own fears and stereotypes RE: black males.
Why would Martin have attacked Zimmerman anyway - unless Zim initiated things and Martin was simply defending himself? Just doesn't seem very credible or rational.
*Edit to add that the prosecution also did a very poor job. That's a likely factor in Zim's acquittal.

OP
Zimmy was a responsible gun lover right up until he grabbed his gun and set out to bully Martin.

I've always thought it strained credibility to assume Zimmerman *didn't* initiate the whole

It was right out of a bad movie. I can't understand why so many people bought it so readily.

I guess we have to make ourselves stupid so that we can feel certain Zimmerman was the attacker.

I can't say for sure, but that does seem more likely than "Martin just started wailing on him." n/t

So, have you written your letter of recommendation to give Zimmerman sainthood yet?
