else. My mother had not worked for years when my brother and I were young, but when she went back to work she had to brush up on her basic skills and her pension was small by the time she retired. They had put together a nice portfolio for themselves, which nicely met their needs at the time.
But if they had been younger and lived longer, it would have been very inadequate. In a way, they died at a good time, having lived long and productive lives into their 80s and 90s, before everything went to hell.
