that when animals that are usually "night owls" like raccoons come out during the day, it's usually because they're rabid. I have no idea if that's what's going on with these owls but would hope they're testing those who are wounded by them.

For me it is more realistic than dark. We had owls, hawks, etc. in the trees on our property
