In reply to the discussion: Sanders, Cummings Propose Bill on Dental Crisis [View all]locks
(2,012 posts)56. Dental and hearing care
are the terrible cavities in health care. How can we have any kind of decent life if we are in pain, at risk of infection, cannot eat solid food? Or are trapped in a lonely world because we cannot afford thousands of dollars for hearing aids?
I had two large old fillings fall out at the same time, my dentist charged $150 for the exam and x-rays, then told me it would be at least $3000 for fillings and crowns. I went to visit my daughter who lives in Mexico, had excellent dental care there and was charged $200. Why can't the richest country in the world have at least as good and affordable dental care as one of the poorest?
Why are the legislators who have free dental care paid for by our taxes able to keep it from the rest of us?

A yearly checkup and cleaning should have been included in the free preventatives section of the ACA

So true. Dental/gum plaque can be linked with heart disease. Like teeth, eyes & vision are crucial.

I guess thinking that Americans deserve decent dental care is a liberal issue.

Can we just stop this piecemeal health insurance bullshit and get universal coverage already?
