BTW, some time back Bernie Sanders was near being tossed for supporting a bill to gave Israel funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system. Looking at it in context, it would prevent excuses for more incursions in Gaza.
Of course, Obama was a 'warmonger' for supporting it, despite all his other actions otherwise. And Kerry was a 'warmonger' for insisting that Assad give up his WMD (meaning, chemical weapons) and join in the UN's Chemical Weapons Convention. Same story with Libya. Some don't seem to be able to rise to the level of getting the larger picture. In both cases, the threat and/ or use of force was associated with that need and the use of WMD on the population. Neither were signatory at those times; right after that, they signed. The CWC is for the long-term survival of mankind and the ecosphere, not a game.
Assad gave up WMD despite the civil war there. His supporters in Syria have no qualms about using conventional means and terrorism to stay in power. But now he's fighting terrorists sent in from other countries. The use of WMD was desperation as the various rebel factions were nearing the territory that he needs to stay in power.
And Obama knew all along, from the time he became POTUS, that no matter who triumphed in Syria, they'd hate us. So he didn't want to get involved, despite the neo-cons 'holding his feet to the fire' for years to go with the PNAC plan. Syria was on that list, along with Iran.
Rand Paul (R - 'anti-war' bullshit artist) has called for griound troops to protect Christians. Yet he's untouchable online, despite his anti-woman, anti-minority, anti-LGBT, pro-pollution, pro-theocracy, pro-Koch and pro-corporate rule stances.
Gee, ain't it something that he isn't being micromanaged online and maligned for every single issue all day long every day?
