(62,325 posts)and spread across Europe in the form of major protests against their Government's austerity programs. Protests I mean, but the Indignados were the ones to first camp out in the public square and refuse to leave. I remember reading blog posts wondering why Americans were not protesting when the center of the problem, Wall St., was right here.
But then, we not only started, but inspired the world with the way they went about it. The idea came from an ad blog in Canada, but no one can say Americans didn't pick up the challenge and end up inspiring dozens of other countries to join in. We are often the last to get started, sort of like 'the sleeping giant'. But once you wake the American people, they must be given credit for creativity, energy, passionate commitment and excellent execution of an idea even if it was not solely their own. I think the world is thrilled that we are now leading the way in many ways.
