Let's say the SCOTUS abandons centuries of precedent and rules against the subsidies.

That kills the insurance market.....in red states. The blue states set up their own exchanges, and would keep the subsidies.

That doesn't leave a very good choice for the red states. Already, the economic benefits are pushing some more red states to figure out how to expand medicaid. This decision would put a lot more pressure on state governments to actually adopt "Obamacare".
