5. All well and good, but you need 14.4 million jobs in 8 years to keep up with population growth.

This isn't "Obama's fault," of course. The GOP has stymied every initiative that would create jobs, and this is the result.

Here's a handy formula: When the jobs numbers come out and say, for example, "200,000 jobs created last month!!11!1!," you deduct 150,000 instantly because that's how many new people enter the workforce every month. In other words, 150,000 new jobs keeps the unemployment rate flat (when it isn't fiddled with to make it look better than it really is.) What's left is the net number of jobs that represent a dent in unemployment. In my example, that would be 50,000 new jobs.

The next thing to remember is that the Bush junta cost 8 million people their jobs. So, at the rate of 50,000 per month, it would take over 13 years to re-employ everyone who got the GOP shaft.
