8. That 150k is an old number, based on old population growth numbers

With a lower birthrate (understanding that its the birthrate of 18 years ago that matters at any given point) and with a higher retirement rate based on a generally older population, the number of new jobs needed to keep up with population growth is more like 90,000.

There are plenty of other calculation that might be made - such as the number of new jobs to reach an unemployment target in a given time period, or the number of new jobs to reach a labor force participation rate, but as far as what is needed to keep the unemployment rate and the participation rate flat while absorbing new population, its about 90,000 new jobs a month.
