30. My elementary school aged grandchildren call each other "dude"

regardless of gender all the time. Sometimes they slip up and call a parent or grandparent "dude" as well if they are excited and absorbed in an activity. When I was a youngster, "man" was the all purpose designator, sometimes interchangeable with "cat." It is slang and the next generation will adopt something else. Least of our concerns right now.
