I don't know how many first cousins I might have.

My mother was an only child, and I was her only child. She raised me. No first cousins there. My father had one brother, and I know that brother had a few kids, but I never met them. I never met that "uncle," don't know his name, nor his kids' names, so I can't really say how many cousins I might have.

I know I've got 3 deceased half brothers, and a half-brother and half-sister from my father who aren't interested in connecting. I know my father spawned one other child put up for adoption at the same time I was born. I know he left me 3 step-siblings when he died, but I have not seen nor spoken to them since 1976.

My FAMILY includes my mother, my sons and their SOs, and my grandson. There is no extended family, regardless of any shared dna.

Why?
