23. The Lewis-Obama photo is priceless

As much as the two of them have interacted and spent time together for various reasons and at various events over the past decade, THIS particular event and that moment of embrace, was a powerful testament for that one particular man having made a sacrifice for the other man to be there in the capacity of the leader of the free world.

Obama is from my generation (we are mere months apart in age) and *we know*. We know that sacrifices were made to pave the way for us just as we sacrifice for our children and grandchildren. We were part of a large group of "little children" along with Martin Luther King's "little children", as referred to in one of the quotes from his famous speech -

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Our "passion" will understandably be different from those who were there on the ground 50 years ago and participated and suffered. But then they suffered for us so that we would not have to - most notably, the physical abuse just to be able to vote. And we are eternally grateful, and we are making our own sacrifices to go the next step for our own progeny, who like ourselves, continue to be targeted for some ridiculous reason or other, and so we have our work cut out for us.
